Corinthian Casuals goal machine Jamie Byatt has left the club for a new challenge at Ryman Division One South rivals Tooting & Mitcham United.

The striker admitted leaving the King George’s side was one of the hardest decisions of his career, although he will take with him a “million memories”.

They include hitting more than 60 goals in two seasons, and a trip to Brazil to play SC Corinthians Paulista in front of 30,000 fans.

Byatt has played a few stints at Casuals over the past 15 years, going on to score 110 goals in 287 appearances and becoming the club’s second all-time highest goalscorer.

He said: “It is time for me to blow the whistle on this part of my career.

“I want to thank Corinthian Casuals and SC Corinthians Paulista for the chance to go to Brazil, it was without doubt the highlight of my career and something I will never forget. I have a million memories that I will cherish forever.

“Playing in front of 30,000 people at the Arena in Sao Paulo, not to mention the millions on television, was amazing and I wore the SC Corinthians shirt with pride. I’m just sorry I couldn’t score for you crazy bunch.”

He added: “I must also mention the great fans and the support I’ve had at Casuals and SC Corinthians, but it’s now time for me to move on.

“This was a decision that wasn’t made lightly and it was one of the hardest of my life to leave Casuals, a club that has been a part of my entire life and will continue to live in my heart.”
