Cricket legend Phil Tufnell bonded with donkeys at a charity race day which raised £15,000 for children with brain injuries.

The former England cricketer and television personality, known as Tuffers, was at The Children’s Trust, in Tadworth Court, for its Donkey Derby on June 13.

More than 1,000 visitors watched youngsters from seven schools in the area compete in eight races, with the final race being won by Lillie Dingle.

Former professional footballer and sports pundit John Salako also joined families at the event which included attractions and refreshments.

Tuffers, an ambassador of the charity, said: "The Donkey Derby was great fun and I really enjoyed the afternoon and placing a few bets."

Hannah Vince, community fundraising coordinator at The Children’s Trust, added: "It was a fantastic event, supported by local schools, their families and many of our supporters.

"I would like to thank everyone who made the Donkey Derby such a success, particularly to the Head family - Lizette, Laura and Ryan for organising the event, and also to Phil Tufnell and John Salako who came along to show their support."
